Where to Put a Diffuser So You Actually Notice It

Placement changes how a diffuser performs more than most people realise. The same unit can feel weak in one spot and just right two metres away.

Height matters

Scent carried on a cool mist tends to settle. Placing the unit at waist height or higher — a shelf, a console, a chest of drawers — lets it disperse across the room instead of pooling near the floor.

Give it airflow, not a draught

A little air movement helps the scent travel. A direct draught from a fan or an open window will simply carry it away. Somewhere near, but not in, the path of moving air is ideal.

Protect the surface

Cool mist settles as a light film of moisture. Use a coaster, a tray or a tile under the unit if it is sitting on wood, and keep it clear of books, papers and electronics.
